Redefining What It Means to Move
When we think of movement, oftentimes our minds go to the podium photos, the 1st place race finishers, or even olympians but movement isn’t just for the elite athletes, movement is for everyone and it looks different for everyone. That’s the true beauty of it. However someone engages in movement from running, walking, rolling, stretching, dancing, hiking, etc., it is movement in their way and it is worth celebrating. At Fit2Run, we believe every pace has a place and everyone is a runner.
Everyone is a runner
When you put one foot in front of the other, you are a runner. Fit2Run holds at its core that everyone is a runner in their own way. Too often, people don’t think they qualify as a “runner” because their time isn’t fast enough or they haven’t run a race before. But the beauty of running and movement as a whole is that it doesn’t come with qualifiers. The person jogging a mile, the walker doing intervals, the weekend 5K attendee, they are all runners. Running isn’t about the time or distance, it’s about showing up for yourself and following the journey you are on.
Honoring Your Body’s Pace
Movement is a personal experience. Some days it might look like a PR breaking long run, other days it might be a stretch or yoga class, or even a well-deserved rest day. Emphasize the importance of listening to your body’s needs, abilities, and rhythms. Every body has its needs and one of the gifts of being able to move it is being able to listen to it. Progress isn’t measured by someone else’s successes, it’s about your small wins, achievements, and your personal journey.
The Emotional Power of Inclusion
When we embrace the motto that “every pace has a place”, no one is left behind. Movement starts to become more than just physical activity, it becomes community connectedness. Whether it’s the cheers at the finish line or a simple nod from a fellow runner while on a run, it becomes something larger and we are reminded that we belong. The belonging and sense of community encourages others to join in and start living out their happiest and healthiest lives.
Movement is for Every Body
Movement is a universal right we have as human beings. It looks different for every one but every way in which you move is valid, supported, and celebrated. Honor your body, embrace your pace, and remember, you belong on the run.
