Where do I pick up my race bib and shirt?

Can I register on race day

On-site registration will be available 4pm-6:45pm. Registration cost on race days is $40 for the timed run, $30 for the walk, and $20 Kids’ Dash. Cash and credit card will be accepted. Please come to the Fit2Run Registration tent under the finish tower.

 

Where do I park?

Parking is available onsite on Regatta Island at Nathan Benderson Park for $5. Participants can park for free on the south or west side of the lake or at University Town Center Mall. The start and finish line will be near the finish tower.

 

What time does the race start and when should I arrive?

Race Day Schedule:

4:00PM – Island Parking and Race Day Registration Opens

6:10PM – Kids' Warm Up

6:30PM – Kids’ Races

6:30PM – Runners’ Warm Up led by GYM SRQ

6:40PM – Runners to the starting line

6:50PM – Race announcements and national anthem

7:00PM – 4 Mile Run begins

7:05PM – 4 Mile Walk begins

7:30PM – 9:00PM – After Party with Food, Drinks and Music

9:00PM – Fireworks

 

Tell me about the race course

The course will start at the Finish Tower and travel north up to Cattleman Road. Runners will make a left at the road and then turn right back toward the lake near the playground. The course continues down the west side and south side of the lake, with a turn around just past the south east corner. After the turn around, participants will travel back to the finish line across the lake on the wave attenuator and finish near the tower and festival!

 

Are there water stops along the course?

2 water stops will be along the course, and water will be available at the finish line.

 

Are strollers and pets allowed in the race?

Yes! Strollers and dogs on 6’ non-retractable leashes are welcome.

 

Where can I use the restrooms?

Port-a-lets will be on site as well as restrooms available on the ground floor of the finish tower.

 

What if it rains?

The event is taking place rain or shine. In the event of lightning or hazardous conditions the start time may be delayed or cancelled. Should the event be cancelled we will consider your registration fee a donation to SANCA, and runner medal and packet will be available for pick up at Fit2Run UTC. Is there a bag drop?

There is not a bag drop. Parking is close to the start line, so storing your belongings in your vehicle is recommended. Fit2Run and Nathan Benderson Park are not responsible for missing or items left.

 

Who is the race benefitting?

Proceeds from the race benefit The Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc. (SANCA), a non-profit 501c3 business created to manage Nathan Benderson Park, a community/public asset and world class, multi-use sports venue. SANCA’s mission is to improve the quality of life for our community and be an economic generator for our region.

 

Is the run chip-timed?

Yes! Timing will start as soon as the runner crosses the starting line. Results will be posted on our results page after the race.

 

What could I win?

The top 100 male and top 100 female finishers will receive a commemorative pint glass. After the race the Day of Registration Tent will have results posted and the top finishers may pick up their prize. Prizes not claimed by 9pm can be picked up starting Monday 7/8 at Fit2Run UTC.

 

Is there anything planned for after the race?

Music and a festive atmosphere as well as inflatable games and a zone for kids are planned on the island post race. The first band will take the stage at 7:15pm. Race participants will each have a ticket on their for a complimentary beverage (beer or soda) and a meal ticket for a hot dog and sides. Kids under 13 will also receive popsicles. Additional food vendors will be on site with food for purchase for both runners and spectators. Fireworks over the lake will launch at 9pm and race participants (and their guests!) will have a reserved section for seating, between the tower and the lake. The music and festival on the island will end at 11pm.

 

I heard there will be glow gear! Where do I pick mine up?

Glow gear will be handed out with your finisher’s medal, or can be picked up post race at the registration tents!

 

Tell me more about the food and fireworks!

All participant bibs include one ticket for food and one ticket for a beverage (beer available for those over 21!). Additional food and beverages may be purchased. All American food options include hot dogs (or veggie dogs) with toppings, chips and watermelon, plus popsicles for kids.

A section for bibbed participants and their guests will be reserved between the south side of the finish tower and the stage for optimal views of the fireworks show. Bibbed participants may leave chairs or blankets in this area beginning at 4pm, but please note Fit2Run and SANCA are not responsible for items left.

 

Where will EMS be located?

EMS will be located at the finish line on the island. Please report any issues along the course to a water station attendant.
