Bill
Robinson (right), owner of Fit2Run, is the former
owner of Robby’s Sports, a sporting goods
retail chain headquartered in Bradenton that is
now Champs Sports. Together with Parks, his son,
Fit2Run is a 3rd generation sports company (Bill's
father, H.L. Robinson and brother, Penny Robinson
started the sports business back in the 1960's
in Bradenton). The team offers new ways to
help runners find the perfect shoe.
Parks Robinson says, ‘We are pleased
to be entering the specialty athletic footwear
market and serve as a one-stop runner’s
shop to area runners and walkers. Fit2Run
looks forward to taking care of the area’s
athletes during the weeks and months ahead.”
Runners
and walkers can participate in Fit2Run's Gait
Analysis service
to determine if they have any foot problems. After
being videotaped while walking on a treadmill,
the individual’s foot strike is analyzed.
With input from the staff pedorthist*,
Fit2Run can recommend the perfect shoe.
In addition,
the iStep® System with
1,024 barometric sensors and patented infrared
footwear technology can perform a complete mapping
of an athlete’s feet in less than 30 seconds.
This is another technology offered at Fit2Run that
ensures the proper fit when choosing a running
or walking shoe.
Another store ‘amenity’ is
trying out new shoes on the official Mondo
track that circles the store’s center, the
same surface used in world-class track and
field events.
“Before you start training, let Fit2Run
make sure you’re in the right shoe,” says
Robinson.
